MISSION | The Joint Regional Intelligence Center (JRIC) is a partnership between federal, state, and local law enforcement and public safety agencies. We receive, integrate, analyze, and share threat intelligence with partners to help them detect, deter, and defend against terrorist attacks and major criminal threats.

COVERAGE | The six-county JRIC area of responsibility includes Los AngelesRiversideSan BernardinoSan Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. Covering nearly 40,000 square miles, and home to more than 18.5 million people, the region contains nationally critical assets and key resources whose smooth functioning directly affects the day-to-day health of the US economy, including national supply chains, logistics backbones, and energy security.

CREATION  | Building upon recommendations of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (the 9-11 Commission), the JRIC was established in 2006 as part of the California State Threat Assessment System (STAS). In 2010, the JRIC and the Joint Drug Intelligence Group (JDIG) component of the Los Angeles High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (LA HIDTA) merged to create a consolidated, regional all-crimes intelligence entity. The center follows guidelines established by the US Department of Justice and US Department of Homeland Security, and contributes to the national Criminal Intelligence Sharing Plan.

CIVIL LIBERTIES | The JRIC respects and safeguards individual privacy and constitutionally protected civil liberties and civil rights. We follow the STAS Privacy Policy, developed by executives from each of the STAS components, guided by Executive Order 12333; 28 CFR 23 guidelines; and the Attorney General Guidelines for Domestic FBI Operations.
